I sit at my kitchen table waiting for the plumber to arrive to once again unplug the kitchen sinks from the backed up apatment upstairs. My eye has caught hold of the sunlight entering in the frontroom window splashing across the fall decorations. I am sure it's aware that it's taken for granted and looks content to be so. It sneaks around the two bales of hay on the floor not touching the shadows it produced as it entered. The warm light has grown lazy and dozes on the scarecrow's shoulder for a few moments then gets up and noses around the pumpkins and leaves on the table gazing into the jars of marbles and plastic toy capsules I collect from vending machines. The sun now stretches and has spread itself halfway up the wall resting for a nap.
I return to the computer and when I remember the sun again I look at it's last resting place and see it must have awakened, only dim lit remnants are left behind. I don't think it will return to my house till tomorrow's nap time.
